30 Day Raise Your Vibration Reflection

Since doing the Raise Your Vibration Commitment I experienced a complete shift in my reality for the month of June. Raising my vibration and coming back to my center has helped me with mental clarity and creating a new sense of balance in my life by getting back to a place of discipline in the areas that have proved most beneficial to me on my journey so far. With Mindful Mondays, I got back in the habit of journaling my feelings regularly and I also started back writing in my planner. I am more organized. With Thankful Tuesdays and Thankful Thursdays, I started back reading The Magic by Rhonda Byrne. The book is about the power of gratitude and how practicing gratitude creates magic in our lives. With doing Wellness Wednesdays, I got serious about my yoga journey and finally took the time...

Freedom is a Mindset

This past weekend Juneteenth was celebrated. Reason being, African Americans were not free in 1776 when America gained its independence. The same can be said about Juneteenth for my ancestors as well. My grandmother was born in the 1920's and she was still living on a plantation farm with her parent's former slave master's. I learned of this back in 2017 when I was writing my book The Book of Corinthian Chapter One: Beauty in the Bayou. This baffled me. I had a ton of questions. When did slaves in that part of Louisiana learn of their freedom? Why would they still live on a plantation if they were free? Come to find out, my great grandparents were told that they were free at some point later, I'm not sure of the exact date, but they still chose to stay where they were comfortable and work ...

Shadow Work and The Healer’s Journey

In the age of social media, healing may appear to be these glorious yoga retreats, picturesque spiritual baths, and pretty crystals alongside song bowls. In reality, healing also requires work. Some of that work being shadow work. Shadow work is the process of confronting your deepest fears, trauma, pain, and anything else that you attempt to hide from. It is literally facing your shadow or the dark parts of your soul. Healing is not a one time fix all solution, it happens in phases and in different stages of your journey. Its an ongoing process to heal and become whole on this journey to freedom. It entails learning, unlearning, and deep introspection in various pursuits. I was involved in a period of deep shadow work back in 2017 when I went back home to stay with my parents in Louisia...

My baby girl Freedom is 11 months old today! My baby boy Legend just turned 2 years old 2 months ago back in April. That means for a smooth 9 months I had the experience of having 2 babies under the age of 2! Some days it’s still surreal to me that I had babies back to back like that. Even now there is still a lot of diapers needing to be changed, crying, and screaming going on at the same time. There are still times where one, if not both of them wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake for hours before going back to sleep. Even with my husband being a great father and my oldest son being an awesome big brother helper, some days still have more challenges than others when it comes to parenting little ones and growing in patience. Quite honestly though, I wouldn’t have it any oth...

What My Plants Are Teaching Me About Self-Love

Back when I worked for the State of Texas years ago, my boss told me that I should always keep a plant. She explained why by letting me know that having a plant would serve as a good indicator of how well I was taking care of myself. It made sense to me then but it makes more sense to me now. I tried my hand at keeping plants when we first moved to Dallas back in 2018. This new journey started off well, but then eventually my plants died because I wasn't being consistent with taking care of them. I also didn't take the time that I needed to learn how to care for each plant fully which also made me feel somewhat defeated. A lot of things come naturally for me, but I am also a firm believer that I can do or learn anything that I put my mind to with good intention. When spring started this ...

Cosmic Events, Lunar Eclipse, and Healing

We currently have four planets in retrograde right now, Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto, and Venus. Retrogrades bring change, collective energy shifts, and opportunities for deep healing. We can see this in action right now as the world has been going through a deep purging since the rapid spreading of Covid 19. Racism is also a pandemic, which is being brought to light at this time in particular causing the planet to shift more in regards to unity consciousness. Its a lot, I know, but there are things being worked out right now for our highest good that we cannot see with the naked eye. What's going on right now is a spiritual war. In the end, the light will shine through, the righteous will ascend, and the hatred and darkness will be cast out. If having four planets in retrograde isn't enough, to...

Raise Your Vibration 30 Day Commitment

I've been well aware of the social injustice here in America for quite some time now. It's reflected in my art as well as in the work that I do. I am also knowledgeable of how the trauma that's been passed down to us for generations is still affecting us, especially mentally and emotionally. By us, I specifically mean the black community. We as a people are hurting and we are tired. Seeing that more of the world is now awakening to the prevalence of racism made me dig deep within myself and remember why I am here right now. I was reminded of my life purpose and my desire to shine light in any way that I can. After working through every emotion possible over the weekend while processing the current events of more murders of innocent black people at the hands of police officers, I decided to...
